This special small-group workshop combines hand building with a unique outdoor firing experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSession 1 - August 9\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUsing specially formulated Raku clay, you'll create 2-3 of your own, vessels, decorative pieces, or small sculptures through slab and coil hand building techniques. You'll also explore texture and surface design as you prepare your work for firing. Please note that raku pottery is not food safe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eSession 2 - August 23\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTwo weeks later, participants will gather for a half-day Raku firing experience at a private property on \u003cstrong\u003eBrennan Line, just north of Orillia\u003c\/strong\u003e. You'll glaze your pieces and take part in the entire firing process, watching as flames, smoke, and rapid cooling create the distinctive colours and effects that make Raku pottery so unique.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe day concludes with a potluck dinner, a favourite tradition that brings everyone together to celebrate their creations and enjoy a memorable shared experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo experience necessary. All materials, firings, and instruction are included.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClass is instructed by Elaine Bremer, a talented artist based in Orillia, with a rich background in pottery and sculpture. She graduated from the 3-year adult art program at Central Technical School in Toronto and has been active in the art community since moving to Orillia 10 years ago. Elaine's work is influenced by her farm origins, and she is currently working on establishing a community Makerspace to serve the Orillia area. Her passion for creativity extends to various mediums, including fabric, mixed media, welding metal sculptures, and clay, leading workshops in Raku and sculpture. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eMin *6 people to run class\u003c\/strong\u003e.
