A Two-Part Clay Workshop

Discover the joy of working with clay in a relaxed, small-group setting this summer. Whether you're completely new to pottery or looking to explore a different creative process, this two-session class offers a fun and rewarding introduction to hand building.

Session 1 - July 8

Create your own unique mugs, cups, or small sculptural pieces using hand building techniques such as slab construction and coiling. You'll learn the basics of shaping clay by hand while exploring texture and surface decoration to make your pieces truly one-of-a-kind.

Session 2 - July 22

After your work has been bisque fired, you'll return to add beautiful food-safe glazes and finishing details. Your completed pieces will then be glaze fired and ready to enjoy at home. Finished pieces can be picked up the week of August 1st.

No experience necessary. All materials and firings are included.

Class is instructed by Elaine Bremer, a talented artist based in Orillia, with a rich background in pottery and sculpture. She graduated from the 3-year adult art program at Central Technical School in Toronto and has been active in the art community since moving to Orillia 10 years ago. Elaine's work is influenced by her farm origins, and she is currently working on establishing a community Makerspace to serve the Orillia area. Her passion for creativity extends to various mediums, including fabric, mixed media, welding metal sculptures, and clay, leading workshops in Raku and sculpture.
